Pure Fire Pizza in Collegeville (99 Market St. #4, 484-961-8442) and West Chester (30 S. High St., 484-887-8713) offers gluten-free pizza prepared by staff using separate gloves, utensils, baking sheets and squeeze bottles for sauce.

Haddonfield's newest restaurant is Leaf Eatery (6 Kings Ct., 856-528-5715). Most of the menu items at this vegan spot are listed as gluten free.

The forthcoming Bourse Food Hall in Old City Philadelphia (111 S. Independence Mall East) will feature Baltimore's Mi & Yu Noodle Bar. The Asian bistro serves pho with gluten-free rice noodles.

Lovash, an Indian restaurant in Philadelphia's Society Hill section (236 South St., 215-925-3881) has a gluten-free menu that includes lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes as well as several sides.

If you want prepared Indian foods at home, keep your eyes open early next year for four new gluten-free grab-and-go meals from Cafe Spice at Whole Foods and other retailers:
  • The Butter Chicken Meatballs with Basmati Saffron Rice consists of moderately spiced chicken meatballs simmered in an aromatic tomato-cream sauce, prepared with humanely raised, antibiotic-free chicken fed a vegetarian diet.
  • Coconut Chicken Curry with Basmati Saffron Rice entails chicken cutlets simmered in a tomato-coconut milk curry with hints of ginger, cinnamon and cloves, prepared with humanely raised, antibiotic-free chicken fed a vegetarian diet.
  • Bombay Dal Palak with Basmati Lemon Rice features three varieties of lentils, slowly cooked and blended with tomato, spinach and freshly ground spices.
  • Aloo Gobhi Curry with Basmati Saffron Rice is fragrantly spiced cauliflower florets with diced potatoes in a light onion-tomato curry sauce.


Canada's Glutenberg brewery will be bringing its newest seasonal gluten-free beer, Stout (5% ABV), to the United States. The beer has notes of espresso, dark chocolate and ripe fruit.

GeeFree, the innovative company behind gluten-free puff pastry and franks-in-blankets, has developed two new gluten-free products currently exclusive to commercial food service providers: apple turnovers and Brie & cranberry and caramelized onion tartlets. Hopefully, these will be available at retailers in the near future.
