Celebrate National Celiac Awareness Month

This Celiac Awareness Month, the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness is recognizing the Heroes Within Us - community members who are out there making a difference in the lives of those with Celiac Disease or Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity.

In addition, the NFCA has brought back its Celiac Awareness Month Toolkit, which has everything you need to raise awareness and educate yourself and others about Celiac Disease, gluten sensitivity and the gluten-free diet. The Toolkit has facts on Celiac Disease and gluten sensitivity to share with friends and family and tip sheets for talking to your family about Celiac Disease testing, dining out and more.

Also check the Gluten-Free Product of the Day page daily for product ideas to change up your gluten-free food routine.

Among the events coming up this month is a free webinar, Best Practices in Celiac Disease Diagnosis, on Thursday, May 15 at 2 p.m. Eastern time. The NFCA's Scientific/Medical Advisory Council members Dr. Daniel Leffler of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Dr. Ritu Verma of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia will share the most up-to-date and accurate information about Celiac Disease testing for both kids and adults. Advance registration is a must.

This year, the Celiac Awareness Day game at the Phillies takes place during Celiac Awareness Month. On Sunday, May 18 (1:35 p.m. start time), there will be a dedicated gluten-free concession stand - with soft pretzels in addition to pizza, cheesesteaks and more - and the NFCA gang will be on the 200 Level by the Hall of Fame Club to provide educational materials to game attendees. Plus, the NFCA will be hosting a raffle courtesy of Aramark. Stop by the NFCA's table to enter for a chance to win four tickets to a regular-season Phillies game in Section 118 with preferred parking and $50 in concessions vouchers. A portion of ticket sales benefit NFCA's free programs and services.
