Saffron Road has rolled out a new gluten-free line of frozen meals inspired by traditional Mexican cuisine. The four new frozen entrees are: Enchiladas Al Chipotle, Achiote Roasted Chicken, Chicken Enchiladas Poblano and Beef Chile Colorado. Each of the entrees is served with mesquite black beans and garlic rice.
Daiya Foods has teamed up with Beyond Meat to extend its frozen pizza lineup. The new "Supreme Pizza" offering combines Daiya's dairy-free Mozzarella Style Shreds with Beyond Meat gourmet meatless sausage, peppers and onions and tomato sauce atop a crispy gluten-free crust. The Supreme Pizza (MSRP $8.99) joins five other gluten-free take-and-bake pizza varieties: Cheeze Lover's, Margherita, Fire-Roasted Vegetable, Mushroom & Garlic and Pizza Bianca.
Chocolate Almond and Cranberry Almond.
All but one variety of tacos at the recently opened Dos Tacos near Rittenhouse Square in Center City Philadelphia (120 S. 15th St., 215-567-8226) are gluten free; only the "Ta-Korea" tacos are not an option due to the marinade. The corn tortillas are made fresh daily and the chips are prepared separately.
Healthy fast-food purveyor Bryn and Dane's has opened a new location in Plymouth Meeting (115 Plymouth Rd., 610-825-6794), serving gluten-free wraps, chicken nuggets, salads and smoothies. (Thanks to reader Amy Y. for the tip.)
Luna Cafe in the Old City section of Philadelphia (317 Market St., 215-309-3140) has introduced new breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch menus that list gluten-free choices. Sandwiches can be made on gluten-free bread and the hand-cut fries are prepped in a separate fryer.
Thanks to reader Marie S., who let me know that Bhan Thai in Mt. Laurel (4330 Dearborn Circle, 856-234-4202) lists gluten-free options on its lunch and dinner menus.
In Avalon, the Surf Snack Shack (2150 Dune Dr., 609-961-1009), breakfast burritos can be made with gluten-free wraps.
Local gluten-free businesses Sweet Note Bakery, High Point Cafe and Posh Pop Bakeshop are featured in a NerdWallet post this week on Philadelphia-area gluten-free eateries.
Recent gluten-free-friendly business closings in the area include Susanna Foo Gourmet Kitchen in Radnor, Feasterville's Chow284, and Audabon Bakeshop in Chinatown (July 5).
